A new website wants you to get curious about the upcoming Mars landing. In less than two weeks, NASA will sit back with the rest of the world and see if the Mars Science Laboratory, Curiosity, can complete a successful landing on Mars.
href="http://www.GetCurious.com">GetCurious.com is following the entire campaign before, during and after the landing. It’s counting down to the big moment with a giant countdown ticker. It has information on Mars, videos, photos and a kids section as well. They are also asking people across the nation are encouraged to plan local watch parties at restaurants, pubs, colleges and other venues to join space enthusiasts around the world.
Its mission statement on the home page states:
“Mars Science Laboratory (MSL, or Curiosity) is a Mars rover launched by NASA on November 26, 2011. It is currently en route to the planet, scheduled to land in Gale Crater at 05:31 UTC on August 6, 2012. Its objectives include searching for evidence of conditions favorable to life, studying the Martian climate, studying Martian geology, and collecting data for a future manned mission to Mars.”
Curiosity began its eight month journey in November 2011 and will make its landing on August 5th at 1:31 am ET
