The Vatican newspaper has called for a bald Barbie doll to be put on sale for children who’ve lost their hair through illness

Earlier this year Mattel – the makers of the skinny doll with blonde flowing hair – produced a bald version of the Barbie.

It followed a facebook campaign by a mother in the US whose daugher had chemotherapy.

The new, bald Barbie – officially a “friend” of Barbie – comes with wigs, hats and head scarves.

The makers plan for the bald doll to be donated to hospitals only but the Vatican newspaper would like to see it on general sale.
