More than 100 survivors have been pulled from the rubble after a tornado in Oklahoma. But officials say the search for survivors after the Oklahoma tornado is almost over. The storm killed 24 people with 9 of children.

Rescue workers are "98% sure" there are no more survivors or bodies to recover from the rubble.

Every damaged building in the suburb of Moore has been searched at least once. The ferocious storm flattened homes and a school.

Joshua Hornsby has described how he raced to collect 9-year-old daughter Ja’Nae from the Plaza Towers elementary school in the suburb of Moore.

"I had to park around the corner from the school and when I hit the corner so I could see the school was gone," he said. "My heart just sank."

Ja'Nae was one of 7 children killed when the tornado demolished the site. Mr. Hornsby said he later received a call from the medical examiner.

"He told me that they had my daughter. I knew what he meant but I didn't want to accept it so I kept asking 'what do you mean?'.

"I said 'she's with you, what is she doing?' and that's when he told me she was deceased. That was it."

Ja'Nae's grandmother Yolanda Hornsby said "It's like taking a piece out of my heart and just, like, stomping on it. I'll have to come to terms with... that I won't be able to spend no more Sunday dinners her, no more times at church any more. All of that stuff that we did together - and the smile."

Whole blocks of streets were wiped out on Monday afternoon - in what was the strongest ever tornado on record.

Massive hail stones that fell before the storm hit

US President Barack Obama has described it as one of "the most destructive in history".

Meanwhile rock band Blink 182 is stepping up to help those affected by the deadly tornado. The band has announced they will be offering exclusive products for a charity auction, the proceeds from which will go to support victims.

On a statement on their Facebook page the group say their hearts are broken for those affected by the devastating tornado.

"As we watch the news again this morning from Oklahoma our hearts as we are sure yours are as well are just broken for the people [affected] by this devastating tornado," writes the band in a joint statement on their Facebook page. "In the next few days we will be rolling out some charity auctions and merchandise to raise money (100% of the funds) for the people that have lost everything. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Oklahoma.")

Joe Murray lives in Moore, Oklahoma. He sent this video of the unusual weather as the storm was about to hit.
