Paddy Hill, who was wrongly convicted and jailed as part of the 'Birmingham Six', has died.
He passed away at home earlier this morning at the age of 80.
Mr Hill was one of six men from Northern Ireland who were jailed for life in 1975 after they were wrongly accused of involvement in the Birmingham pub bombings the previous year.
21 people were killed in explosions at the city centre pubs in November 1974.
Mr Hill spent almost two decades in prison before his conviction was quashed in 1991, along with the other five men.
Following his release from prison, Paddy Hill set up the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation (MOJO) to support others who had been wrongly accused of crimes.
The MOJO said in a post on their Facebook page that Mr Hill died peacefully at home.
"It is with great sorrow Paddy died this morning peacefully at home,” the post read.
“Our condolences to his family at this sad time.
"We ask that you respect the family's privacy."
Only three of the ‘Birmingham Six’ are still alive - Gerry Hunter, John Walker and Billy Power.
Richard McIlkenny passed away in 2006 and Hugh Callaghan died in 2023.
