Pair charged with dissident republican activity remanded in custody

Two men have appeared before the jury-free Special Criminal Court charged with the possession of two handguns in Dublin’s south inner city.

65-year-old Patrick Kennedy of South Earl Street, Dublin 8 and 31-year-old Gary Yeung of Bawnmore View, Crossagalla, Limerick were arrested on Saturday afternoon on James Street, as part of ongoing investigations in to the activities of dissident republicans in Dublin and Limerick.

Mr Kennedy was also charged with membership of an unlawful organisation whilst Mr Yeung was also charged with possession of ammunition at his home address on the same date.

The men were remanded in custody to appear in court again on Friday when bail applications are likely to be made.
