Pakistan's ambassadors from the Philippines and Norway are among six people who've been killed in a helicopter crash.

The aircraft made an emergency landing in the Gilgit areas of northern Pakistan on the way to a ceremony, leaving 13 surviving passengers injured.

The ambassadors of Poland and the Netherlands were among the injured.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been travelling in a separate aircraft to the launch of two projects, and returned to Islamabad after the crash

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility, but this hasn't been verified, and they are not highly active in the Gilgit area. Spokesman Muhammad Khurasani says they were targeting Sharif.
