The cost of making pancakes has risen 3% since last year.
The Central Statistic Office (CSO) says the rise is linked to the increase in the price of flour and eggs.
Those who like a spoonful of sugar on their pancakes are facing further inflation – with the cost up 6% on 2023.
The Central Bank estimates inflation in Ireland averaged out at 5.2% last year.
Things are even worse for love struck couples, however – with the cost of a box of chocolates this Valentine’s Day 10% higher than it was last year.
In stark contrast, the price of flowers has only increased by 1%.
By next year, prices are expected to have risen less steeply, with inflation of 2.3% forecast for 2024.
