Some residents of Hoboken in New Jersey were understandably concerned when they spotted what appeared to be a baby locked in the back of a car.

The good Samaritans in question quickly phoned emergency services. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene and broke a front window to reach the child.

It turned out, however, that the 'child' was actually a doll that the car owner's granddaughter had left behind.

You have to give credit to all those who rushed to action, although we're sure more than a few of them were left both amused and red-faced when the 'rescue' was complete. Luckily, the car owner seemed to take it all in good humour, despite a smashed window.
