British Prime Minister David Cameron pledged, last week, to hold a referendum on Britain's EU membership if the Conservatives win the next election.

However, Matthew Parris, former Conservative MP and columnist with the Times said there was no way that the British people would vote to depart the EU.

Mr Cameron said the "in-out" referendum would be held between 2015 and the end of 2017 but Parris believes this is just a chance to buy him some time:
