Partial human remains have been discovered in north Dublin.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident this afternoon in Dublin 17.
It is understood a partially decomposed hand was found on the grounds of a school in Darndale.
Officers have said the scene is preserved as is standard practice and the remains will be removed for examination and DNA analysis.
The State Pathologist has been notified.
Gardaí have said the examination and DNA analysis will help them confirm the identity of the remains and determine the course of the investigation.
Enquiries are continuing.
There were no pupils present at the Darndale school, which is currently closed for midterm break.
