Patrick Quirke’s murder trial has heard forensic testing revealed markings of the words "what the guards will know" on a note taken from his home.

Mr Quirke from Breanshamore, Co Tipperary is accused of murdering local DJ Bobby Ryan sometime between June 3rd 2011 and April 30th 2013.

Mr Quirke denies murdering Bobby Ryan.

The local DJ who went by the name Mr. Moonlight was in a relationship with Mr Quirke’s ex-lover Mary Lowry when he went missing in June 2011.

Mr Quirke was the one who found Bobby’s body in an underground tank on her land almost two years later.

Yesterday, the court heard about a handwritten note found in an office in Mr Quirke’s home that contained questions about his disappearance.

On examination, Detective Garda Jeremiah Maloney said he found indentations of writing from other pages on an A4 note he was asked to examine.

They included the words: “what will the guards know? ... murdered poss in house ... dispose of clothes/phone/any other evidence ... phone pinged”

Other visible indentations were: “Mary had to see him/be with him” and “body naked – never in house”.

Under cross-examination, Detective Garda Maloney said there were also many words he couldn't make out.
