A pedestrian - in his 30s - is being treated for serious injuries following a hit and run collision in Westmeath.
It happened at Magheraboy Upper in Finea at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, when a pedestrian was struck by a car, which left the scene.
The man, who is in his late 30s, was seriously injured and taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The car is described as a dark-coloured saloon, which it is believed to have travelled from the Ballyjamesduff area of Cavan.
The road is closed while gardaí carry out a technical examination.
Gardaí are asking anyone with information to come forward.
