A man has died after being hit by a car on the M1 Motorway in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Gardaí said the incident occurred at approximately 2.45am at Junction 16 southbound on the M1 motorway.
A male pedestrian, aged in his 40s, died after being struck by a car. His body remains at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the car, a man in his early 50s, and three passengers, aged in their 40s and 50s, were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí have urged anyone travelling on the M1 motorway in Dundalk between 2.30am and 3.00am and may have footage to come forward.
