A man in his 20s has died after being hit by a lorry in Ashbourne, Co Meath. 

Gardaí said the incident between the vehicle and pedestrian happened at 9.30pm last night on the N2 at Knavinstown. 

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver is uninjured. 

A technical examination was conducted by investigators and the road is due to reopen soon. 

Gardaí in Meath are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward. 

They are particularly interested in anyone with dash-cam footage who travelled in the area between 9.15pm and 9.45pm yesterday.
