Conservative leadership candidate Penny Mordaunt has officially conceded to frontrunner Rishi Sunak.
Over the weekend, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer easily cleared the threshold of 100 nominations from his fellow MPs.

Ms Mordaunt, by contrast, only had a couple of dozen public supporters and today tweeted that “colleagues feel we need certainty today… As a result we have now chosen our next Prime Minister.”
Rishi Sunak will now be invited to form a Government by King Charles, becoming the first British Indian to hold the office of Prime Minister.
