Martin Kaymer’s face says it all. The German golfer had the privilege of sinking the putt that won the Ryder Cup for Europe – and completed one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history.
The Europeans had trailed the Americans 10 – 6 heading into the final day and it looked almost certainly like Europe would be relinquishing the trophy with a whimper.
But Europe rallied – driven on by the spirit of Seve Ballasteros - pulled off an astonishing turnaround to retain the trophy with Martin Kaymer providing the coup-de-grace in the Miracle of Medinah.
