In an interview during the week, Taoiseach Enda Kenny indicated that the same-sex marriage referendum will take place on Friday May 22nd.
Mr Kenny says the referendum is about 'tolerance, respect, understanding and sensitivity'.

The leaflet, which was handed to Ms O'Reilly, reads: "They will still contract cancers earlier in life. The average life expectancy in same-sex relationships is 60 years. Statistically they are, more than average, subject to alcoholism, illegal drug abuse, depression, and suicide".
According to Ms O'Reilly, there was no official ADFAM presence at the event, although the leaflet stated that it was issued by them.
The second leaflet criticised the Children and Family Relationships Bill stating that in relation to the best interests of the child: "children living in the care of such couples are 8 times more likely to be harmed than children living with married biological parents"
