Those still reeling from their weekend trip to see Gravity will be glad to know that one group of real-life astronauts have safely landed following their 166 day stay on the International Space Station. Fyodor Yurchikhin, Luca Parmitano and Karen Nyberg - i.e. ISS Expedition 37 - touched down in Kazakhstan at around 3 AM Irish time. They returned the torch for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Russia, which had been brought to ISS as part of its pre-games relay.
Nyberg and Parmitano had been prolific social network users during their extended time on board ISS. Parmitano, for example, made headlines last week when he tweeted an epic photo of Ireland.
Nyberg, meanwhile, saved some of her best photos for last. Her final ISS photographic efforts included a stunning sunrise and a sobering image of the devastating Typhoon Haiyan that swept through the Philippines. You can see them and more below:
