An iconic Dublin cinema is set for its grand reopening as a theatre and cocktail bar this Halloween night.

The Stella Cinema in Rathmines shut down 12 years ago after screening the latest films for 81 years.

The venue has been lovingly restored with the original roof uncovered, a gleaming golden lobby and leather seats and couches with small tables for glasses.

The front row is made up of beds, complete with blankets.

Customers can order food and drinks - including cocktails and beers - on their way in and sit back and wait for them to be brought their personal table.

Theatre Director of the new Stella, Karl Geraghty, says it's been fantastic to give it a new lease of life:

"It is an incredible place in terms of cinema history," he said "But it is also an important historical building in an architectural context and a social context."

"It has got history for days, so yeah it is a really great project to be part of."

Showing classic films as well as major releases, the Theatre is scheduled to open on October 31st.
