People are taking part in marches across Ireland in solidarity with the victims of the Paris terror attacks.

The French Ambassador is attending a march through the streets of Dublin.

The congregation met at the Spire on O'Connell Street and is walking in silence to Leinster House via D'Olier Street.

While in Cork, a silent vigil is being held in Daunt Square, and people have also gathered at the Spanish Arch in Galway to do the same.

Books of condolence are also opening next week in Dublin and Galway.

Eleanor Delaney from France explains why she has come out for the march in Dublin.

This follows on from a gathering yesterday that was organised by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), at the Dubh Linn Garden in Dublin Castle.

And it comes ahead of a mass rally in Paris, where more than one million people are expected to attend.

Among those at the Paris gathering will be the Taoiseach Enda Kenny, German chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Mr Kenny has said: "Today we march here in his city to defend that tolerance and humanity against the hatred and extremism that would dismantle and destroy them."
