Met Éireann has issued snow and freezing temperatures warnings across the country over the next 24 hours.

The west and north-west of the country, which awoke to icy scenes following snowfall last night, has received an ‘orange’ warning for hail, sleet and more snow – with up to 8cm of snow likely to fall in parts of Connacht and Ulster.

The Met office has also issued a ‘yellow’ warning to parts of Leinster, Cork, Waterford and Tipperary, with the possibility of 4cm of snowfall.

AA Roadwatch is advising motorists to show due care and attention, particularly in Donegal and around the Ring of Kerry, where driving conditions are being affected by snow and ice.
