A helicopter has crashed on its way to pick up a newly married couple in Co Offaly.

The accident occurred at 4pm this afternoon near the village of Kinnitty.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the helicopter.

He was on his way to a field to pick up a couple who had just been married in the local church.

The pilot was not injured in the incident.
