A plane in the US had to be diverted due to two passengers fighting because one of them used a banned device to stop the others seat from reclining.
The fight began on a United Airlines flight on which a passenger used a gadget called a 'Knee Defender', a device that attaches to a seat's tray table and jams the seat in front, preventing it from reclining.
When a flight attendant asked the passenger to remove the device and he refused, the passenger in front turned around and threw a glass of water in his face.
The dispute on the flight from Newark to Denver escalated to the point that the airline had to divert the flight to Chicago’s O’Hare international airport. The two passengers involved were removed from the aircraft, according to Transportation Security Administration spokesman Ross Feinstein.
Chicago Police and TSA officers met the flight and spoke to the passengers and 'deemed it a customer service issue', Feinstein said.
The male and female passenger, both aged 48, were not charged or arrested for their disruption to the flight.
The plane then continued on its route without the two troublesome passengers, arriving at Denver airport one hour and 38 minutes late.
