An American woman (30) is due before a Co. Clare court today, charged in connection with an an air-rage incident.

A Delta Airlines flight from JFK to Greece, with over 280 people on board, was forced to divert to Shannon Airport overnight after a female passenger became aggressive with both the crew and her fellow passengers.

The plane landed shortly before 4am when the woman was arrested by gardaí and detained under the Air Navigation and Transport Act.

She was subsequently charged in connection with the incident on board the plane and is due before a special sitting of Ennis District Court at miday.
