A plane flying from London had an emergency landing at Shannon Airport following engine problems.
The Jet Blue craft diverted to the Clare airport at 10.48am this morning due to reported engine issues.
The passenger flight was on route from London to New York before the engine suffered a ‘compressor stall’ that forced the crew to shut down the engine.
Emergency procedures were put in place on the ground at Shannon.
The airport's Fire and Rescue service along with Clare County Council Fire Service, Health Service Executive Ambulances and An Garda Siochana were at the scene.
Engineers are expected to inspect the engine. It is believed, however, that a replacement aircraft will be sent to Shannon this afternoon to take the passengers onto their final destination.
