The Chief Medical Officer is urging people to show solidarity with the country and choose a staycation this Summer.
“It fits with something we’ve seen over the course of this entire pandemic, the solidarity of the whole population, the community supporting one another through this.
“I certainly intend to if I manage to get a few days off, to ensure that I spend whatever money I can in this country – supporting business and activity in this country.”
We move to phase 3 on Mon 29th June. Very low levels of #COVID19. What worries me most now is travel from overseas and I fear many planning foreign trips. 2020 is a year for a staycation. Stay in Ireland, spend locally and follow public health advice. @roinnslainte @HSELive

Dr. Tony Holohan says he's "beyond nervous" about the impact foreign travel could have on the spread of Covid-19 from next month, when a "green list" of countries which will have an air bridge to Ireland is due to be published.
The 14-day quarantine rule won't apply to people returning here from these states from July 9th, but is subject to change every two weeks.
Yesterday, a further 3 people with Covid-19 died, while 11 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of recorded cases so far to 25,414.
Dr. Holohan says holidaying in Ireland this summer makes sense.
He added: “The process of travel itself is one that will have to be carefully managed so that we travel through airplanes and airports that the risk of transmission is minimised in those settings and there’s compliance of public health advice.”
