The State's appeal in the Apple ruling will be heard by the EU General Court in Luxembourg later today.

It comes after Ireland was ordered to recover €13 billion in illegal state aid by the European Commission.

The State and the tech giant are looking to have the original ruling reversed.

The UK's Supreme Court will hear later appeals from two separate challenges over Boris Johnson's decision to suspend parliament.

A panel of 11 judges will consider whether the five-week prorogation is lawful.

A ruling is not expected until later in the week.

The Minister for Agriculture has written an open letter to protesting beef farmers asking them to end their blockades at meat factories.

It's after farming organisations widely supported recommendations made at the weekend following talks between all sides.

Micheal Creed says farmers voices have been heard 'loud and clear', but that nobody got everything they wanted from the talks.

He added that many farmers simply wanted an immediate price increase but it was not legally possible to have that option on the table.

Up to 300,000 people are expected at the National Ploughing Championships over the next three days in Co Carlow.

The event at Fenagh will have 1,500 exhibitors at the site, while buyers and visitors from more than a dozen countries are due to attend.

The event is designed to showcase Irish food, farming and culture.

The US President has said he's waiting for 'definitive' proof Iran was behind a drone attack on two Saudi oil refineries before considering any response.

The country's oil production has taken a hit, and President Trump has suggested it 'looks like' Tehran was responsible.

However, he stressed that he 'certainly' wants to avoid war.

Iran has denied any involvement, while responsibility has been claimed by Houthi rebels in Yemen.
