Officers in Alhambra, California were called to action after a large tortoise was discovered wandering around the city streets.
In a Facebook post, the police department described how "the tortoise did try to make a run for it; but, our officers are pretty fast. Almost had a pursuit! It took two officers to take this guy into custody because it weighs about 150 pounds (and our cuffs . . . well not practical in this situation)."
The owners of the tortoise reclaimed the animal soon after it was caught by police. It was revealed that the reptile's name was Clark.
Check out the Alhambra Police Department Facebook page for photos of Clark and some great comments from the police and public alike. Our favourite joke from the person manning the police account: "It did not respond to "Michelangelo," "Leonardo," "Raphael", or " Donatello," so it may be a female."
