The small explosion happened outside a house at around 10:30 PM last night. It is believed to have been caused by a pipe bomb.

The house suffered minor damage, but there were no reports of any injuries. Police are appealing for any witnesses in the New Lodge area to come forward.

Belfast has been rocked by violence recently, with the PSNI calling the disorder last weekend some of the worst trouble the city has seen in recent times.
