A Polish man (35) has gone on trial accused of fatally stabbing a man who was minding two prostitutes in Cavan last year.
Przemyslaw Trebacz denies murdering Costel Catalin-Cretu at an apartment on Connolly Street in Cavan between October 13th and 14th 2012.
The jury has heard the deceased man Romanian was fatally stabbed about a week after he arrived in Ireland.
He was working as a minder for his girlfriend and another woman who were working as prostitutes from Connolly Court in Cavan.
It is the prosecution's case that at around 11pm the accused and another man forced their way into the apartment and demanded money.
When confronted by Mr. Cretu, it is alleged Przemyslaw Trebacz stabbed him in the back and in the chest before taking €300 and leaving.
The jury has been told CCTV footage from the apartment block indicates the incident lasted around four minutes.
Mr. Cretu's girlfriend is due to give evidence, but gardai have been unable to trace the other woman.
