Yesterday saw the momentous event of An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, giving an emotional apology to the survivors of the Magdalene Laundries.

Enda told the Dáil the deep regret for the pain and suffering experienced by the women.

He says they took this country's terrible secret and made it their own but today we take it back and they keep it no more.

He has also pledged a package of support for the women in their remaining years after a 3-month review.
