St Patrick's Day and excessive alcohol consumption on the streets go hand-in-hand but a Cork Fine Gael Councillor, John Buttimer has suggested alcohol-free zones be created to make the day more family friendly.
The Councillor argued that alcohol is consumed freely on the streets and that instead of broad enforcement gardai should set up the zones.
Should gardai simply enforce the law on St Patrick's Day or should people be allowed to freely drink on the streets for the day?
