More than seven out of ten people think we should be able to hold the government to account for human rights failures.
A new Red C poll for Amnesty International also shows that the same amount of people want the constitution to be changed to protect the right to health, housing and an adequate standard of living.
The study comes ahead of a Constitutional Convention later this month discussing economic, social and cultural rights.
