Pope Francis has braved driving rain to preach to a crowd of up to one million people on Brazil's iconic Copacabana beach.
The pontiff (76) got another rapturous reception as he drove through excited crowds packing the Rio de Janeiro streets.
It was the showpiece event of the Pope's first overseas trip.
In an unusual move, Francis stopped the pope mobile to take a large plastic cup handed to him by a well-wisher.
He implored pilgrims in his native Latin America at World Youth Day celebrations to do their bit in creating a more just world.
Earlier in the day he received the key to Rio, blessed the flag for the 2016 Olympics and toured one of the city's favelas. There he appeared to criticise the Brazilian Government and called on them to do more to help the poor. He also talked of people being "disappointed by corruption".
It comes after recent protests across the country about government policy and poverty.
