Porsche has announced the arrival of the newest member to their GT family - the Cayman GT4. According to the manufacturer the GT4 managed a lap time of 7 minutes 40 seconds around the North Loop of the Nürburgring. Porsche tells us that this puts the Cayman GT4 as the “new benchmark” in its segment. We are also told that this is a statement from Porsche about their future and their commitment to promote two-door sports cars in the future.
All of the main features in the Cayman GT4 have been designed to enhance driving dynamics and performance, from their engine and chassis to brakes and aerodynamic design. The car itself is powered by a 3.8litre flat-six engine and offers 385hp, this comes from the 911 Carrera S engine. We are told that the car will bring you from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and that its top speed is 295km/h. The chassis contains mainly features from the 911 GT3.
Outside, the GT4 has three inlet openings to the front and a large rear wing. These are part of an aerodynamic package which is designed for downforce. Options with this machine include the “PCCB ceramic brake system, shell seats made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), a custom Sport Chrono Package with the unique Track Precision app and a Club Sport Package.”
Inside you’ll find leather and Alcantara sport seats. The steering wheel according to Porsche “guarantees ideal control and direct steering feedback due to its compact dimensions”.
The world premiere of the GT4 will be at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March. Unconfirmed prices for Ireland look to start from €120,000.
