Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a father-of-one in a Dublin pub yesterday evening.

The victim was named locally as 25-year-old convicted drug dealer Paul Cullen. He was gunned down by a masked gunman as he sat drinking with his father and other family members at around 7pm in the Cabra House pub on Fassaugh Avenue.

Gardai are appealing for information about a medium-sized, dark-coloured motorbike used as a getaway vehicle by the gunman and a second man.

They are also collecting CCTV footage from the pub and the surrounding area and are trying to establish an exact timeline for the murder.

Superintendent David Taylor is from the Garda Press Office. He says this was a "callous and brutal" murder.

He is appealing to anyone who was in the pub to come forward.
