Post mortem results on a man who died in Co Cavan in violent circumstances are expected to be released this evening.

Yesterday, Dennis Neary, who was in his early 50s, was found unresponsive with serious head injuries at an apartment in Blacklion village.

His body was removed to Navan mortuary for the post mortem.

A man in his 30s is being questioned by Gardaí in Castlerea Garda Station.

"It is so sad to see how our country has fallen into such a poor state [that people] are murdered on a regular basis," Blacklion local Albert Turner lives said.

"It happens in every small town now and it's a sad reflection on our country."
