Postmortems are due to take place for the bodies of a man and woman found dead in a house in rural north Clare yesterday.
The man and woman, both aged in their 50s, were discovered yesterday around 2.30pm at the house in Killinaboy near Corofin.
The man was found dead outside the property while the woman was discovered inside the house.
The bodies have been brought to University Hospital Limerick for postmortems later today.
It is understood Gardaí are treating the deaths as suspicious and the postmortems will determine the course of the investigation.
The State Pathologist attended the scene earlier today and it is understood Gardaí are not seeking anyone else in relation to the case.
Irish Independent reporter Robin Schiller told Newstalk Breakfast it is understood the man and woman were married.
Local councillor Joe Killeen said the incident was a "profound shock" and the main concern is “to try and put to get some information together on it”.
"We do know that the Gardaí are still there and are still investigating the circumstances," he said.
"There are still no answers and still no understanding of what is to unfold."
