Think it takes a miracle to turn water to booze? Think again.

Palcohol makes mixing a cocktail as simple as adding water. Add a splash to a sachet of the powder, give it a stir, and you've got a standard measure of alcohol.

The product was subject to intense criticism after it was approved by America's Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau earlier this month - though this approval was later withdrawn.

Objections have been raised to its resemblance with children's products like Kool-Aid, as well as to flippant comments on the Palcohol, such as suggestions that users sneak the product into sporting events and concerts to avoid high alcohol prices. These comments have since been removed.

And while the makers say they have added extra volume to the powder to discourage users from taking it up their nose, the makers do suggest experimenting by using the product to give an extra kick to food.

It's inventor Mark Philips claims to have developed Palcohol so he could enjoy a drink while hiking, without having to lug around heavy bottles. It comes in six flavours - two being plain rum and vodka, and the rest a variety of cocktails.

The owners of Palcohol remain undeterred following the overturning of approval, and plan to reapply and have it on sale as soon as possible.
