Relatives of the victims of the Lusitania have been remembering their loved ones at a special ceremony in Cobh.

Over 100 descendants of the survivors and those who died have arrived into the town on the Queen Victoria cruise liner.

Over 170 people are buried in Cobh and three glass headstones bearing their names have been erected in the cemetary, while President Michael D Higgins will perform an official ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking this afternoon.

1,201 lives were lost when the passenger ship was sunk by a German U-Boat off the Cork coast on May 7 1915.

Comdt Christopher Rynd is Master of the Queen Victoria - he told Cork's 96fm that they stopped at the wreck site in the early hours of this morning for a moving tribute:
