The referendum on lowering the age of presidential candidates has been overwhelmingly defeated.
Final results show 73.06% of voters said No to the proposed amendment, with only 26.94% choosing Yes on their ballot papers.
All 43 constituencies in the country rejected the proposal, with a turnout of over 60%. There was a Yes vote of around a third in several Dublin constituencies, but a No vote of 70% or more in all other regions.
The result is in stark contrast to the Yes vote for the same-sex marriage referendum.
