An election expert says the only possible 2-party coalition government that could emerge in the next General Election based on the most recent polls would be Fine Gael and Fianna Fail.

The latest opinion poll out yesterday from Paddy Power revealed a 7-point drop for Fine Gael since the last election at 29%.

Labour remains steady on 13% but that is a drop of 6 points since election day 2 years ago.

Fianna Fail are up 4 to 21% since election day, while Sinn Fein is up 6 percentage points since the election on 16%.

Independents are said to stand at 21%.

Michael Martin tops leaders

The poll also showed a decline in performance for most leaders in terms of party leadership when compared to March 2012.

Only Micheal Martin has managed to both increase satisfaction, and decrease dissatisfaction levels.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny although declining in satisfaction, he remained the strongest performer in terms of top box satisfaction.

However his dissatisfaction levels have increased from 27% to 34%.

Lecturer at NUI Maynooth Adrian Kavanagh spoke to Breakfast here on Newstalk.

He has made a number of projections for the next General Election based on the most recent polls.
