Britain has demanded Russia's President allows investigators access to the Malaysia Airlines crash site in Ukraine.

David Cameron and Vladimir Putin have spoken on the phone tonight for the first time since the disaster.

There have been days of controversy since the flight came down over Ukraine three days ago with the loss of almost 300 lives - including Irish woman, Edel Mahady.

Reports claim that the plane was shot by a Russian missile, but pro-Moscow forces have been preventing international monitors from gaining full access to the wreckage.

The plane's black box recorder has also reportedly been recovered by Russian rebels.
