Protesters from around the country have gathered outside Government Buildings in Dublin to demonstrate against Health Service Executive (HSE) cuts to home help and personal assistance services.
People with disabilities and their families say the cuts make no economic sense and will deny people the right to live with dignity.
They say it is the start of a campaign to bring an end to the cutbacks.
Disabled people involved in this campaign have said “These cuts are illogical, and counter to Government policy. These cuts make no economic sense and will increase costs to the exchequer and will deny people basic fundamental rights to live with dignity and choice”.
Protestors say the government decision will prevent disabled and older people from living independently in their own homes as well as reducing the jobs of front-line PAs and home help workers.
These protesters say the government does not care about people with disabilities.
