Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) detectives investigating the murder of a woman in Belfast almost 40 years ago have arrested a man.
Ellen McDowell was 21 when she was shot dead as she walked home with her boyfriend.
It happened in the Shankill area of the city back in April 1974.
The 71-year-old suspect was detained at Bangor Police Station in relation to this and other offences.
He was arrested earlier today in Newtownards.
The case is being investigated by the Serious Crime branch.
