The Psychiatric Nurses Association says it would support undercover HSE staff in care homes and creches.

The Health Service Executive is understood to be considering such a strategy as yet more damning footage is to be aired on television.

Distressing scenes to be aired on RTE tonight will show residents at part of the Aras Attracta facility in Swinford, County Mayo being verbally abused, kicked, slapped and force-fed.

Noel Giblin is General Secretary with the Psychiatric Nurses Association and worked at Aras Attracta until 2010.

Today, he told Jonathan Healy on Lunchtime that the union would support the presence of undercover HSE staff:
