The Psychological Society of Ireland is offering advice for people making new year's resolutions.
The group has devised 40 practical tips for mental health, well-being and prosperity which include eating well and getting enough sleep.
The PSI is warning of unrealistic and unachievable goals but also of setting targets too small that will be of no benefit.
Spokesperson Brendan Rooney says you'll get out of your resolutions what you put in, "It won't neccessarily be easy, but they (people) should focus on the process of doing it, don't focus too much on the end goal 'I want to be fit' or 'I want to be happy' - instead look at the positive aspects of going out for a run or of enjoying the feelings of the process... The goal will look after itself."
