Drivers have been told to give themselves extra time to get to work this morning amid a Status Yellow Fog warning.
The Met Éireann alert is in place for all counties in the Republic except for Dublin, Meath, Louth and Wicklow.
“Certainly, through the early hours of this morning, we do expect that that fog will be quite dense in places,” climatologist Cathal Nolan said.
“Especially more inland locations, especially across the Midlands and maybe across the east as well.
“So, certainly do give yourself that little bit of extra time to get to work this morning and keep your distance, of course, and put on your fog lights when driving in dense fog.”
Mist and fog, especially across the midlands, W & S will gradually clear. 🌫️

Dense fog patches are expected to linger but Mr Nolan said they should be gone by the afternoon.
"[It] will gradually start to clear as we see winds increase from the south-east,” he said.
“That’s ahead of an area of rain that’s expected to push into the southwest of the country, probably through the late morning and early afternoon that will spread across the country.
“It will weaken as it goes across the country but there will still be one or two heavier bursts as it makes its way north-eastwards.”
Met Éireann has also issued a Small Craft Warning from Roche's Point to Erris Head and Fair Head, noting south-east winds will reach force 6 or higher today.
