Britain's Queen Elizabeth has been admitted to hospital in London with symptoms of gastroenteritis.

Buckingham Palace says all official engagements for this week will be either postponed or cancelled.

The 86-year-old had been due to visit Rome for two days.

A spokesman for Queen Elizabeth says she is in "good spirits" and is otherwise in "good health".
