Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID-19.

Buckingham Palace says the 95-year-old British royal is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor next week.

They've previously confirmed she received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in early 2021, with UK media reporting she had also received a booster.

In a statement, the palace said the Queen will "continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines".

The Queen's eldest son Prince Charles also recently tested positive for COVID - the second time he has contracted the virus - but has since fully recovered.

Queen Elizabeth has had a number of health issues in recent times.

Last October she was unable to attend a centenary service in Northern Ireland after being advised by doctors not to travel.
